Udall Congratulates Four Mile Fire Protection District on Receiving $438,888 to Hire Firefighters
Mark Udall issued the following statement after the Department of Homeland Security awarded the Four Mile Fire Protection District $438,888 in competitive grant funds to hire more firefighters.
“Throughout the 2012 fire season, we saw how critical firefighters have been to protecting communities and saving lives around the state,” Udall said. “These competitive grant funds will help the Four Mile Fire Protection District keep firefighters on the job and protect the people of its community.”
The competitive grant was issued under the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response program. The grant funds allow fire departments to hire or retain firefighters and enhance their abilities to protect the public from fires and related hazards.
Earlier this year, Udall encouraged fire departments throughout Colorado to apply for the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response grants.
