Udall: State's Plan to Responsibly Expand Medicaid Exactly the Partnerships the Affordable Care Act Envisioned
Mark Udall lauded Gov. John Hickenlooper's announcement that Colorado would pursue a sensible, cost-effective expansion of Medicaid coverage in the very best spirit of collaboration between our state and the federal government. The approach put together by the Hickenlooper administration would increase access to health care for Coloradans and save taxpayers $280 million over the next 10 years, while driving implementation of the Affordable Care Act in a smart way that works for Colorado.
"Colorado is on the cutting edge of efforts to control health care costs while increasing value and quality," Udall said. "I applaud Gov. Hickenlooper for his thoughtful approach to expanding Medicaid coverage for Coloradans, and I stand ready to assist in any way that I can."
Udall added that he is looking forward to working with the governor in the coming months to ensure that the federal government is doing its part to assist Colorado’s efforts.
