Udall Thanks Ken Salazar for His Service to Colorado, U.S. Interior Department
Mark Udall, who serves on the U.S. Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee and chairs the National Parks Subcommittee, thanked Ken Salazar today for his service at the U.S. Department of the Interior following the news that Salazar will step down from the agency in March.
"Ken and I have worked together for more than a decade to protect Colorado and the West's land, air and water. He understands that we don't inherit the earth from our parents — we borrow it from our children," Udall said. "Ken knows that principle and has worked to leave our nation better than how he found it. We still have a lot to do in Colorado and across our country, but I look forward to continuing this important work."
Udall supported Salazar's nomination to head the Department of the Interior in early 2009. Udall also introduced Salazar at his confirmation hearing before the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee in March 2009. Since then, Udall has worked with Salazar and the Interior Department on issues ranging from wildlife conservation to energy development.
Udall is the nephew of former Interior Secretary and Arizona Congressman Stewart Udall.
